I had the opportunity to pick out our fireplace this week. The whole fireplace issue has been tough because the fireplace wall is windowless and it is not large enough to have built ins on both sides. It was either built ins on one side or no built ins. So I scrapped my original living room inspiration and I decided to go with no built ins. I like symmetry and I thought it would be more prudent to have a nice fireplace that I know I will love than try to force something that I may or may not like. Here are my inspiration photos. Which do you like better?
Hi. I enjoy your site. Seeing your photos brings back fond memories of when my husband and I did a major remodel on our home (only two walls of the original home remained). Both fireplaces are great. But since you asked, I love the simple lines of the first one the best. If you are going to have wainscoting or chair rails on your walls, perhaps the second would be better.

I love both but, I think I like the clean lines of the first best! :) But, honestly I love both! So once again you have a tough decision with two great options!

I am a fan of the first fireplace as well, although both of them look nice. It looks like both pictures have a small spotlight on the ceiling that shines on the fireplace. I think that this is a great idea, as it adds a special touch and highlights the focal point of the room. I don't think that it would be very expensive, either. At any rate, you have an artistic flair for style and elegance, and I think that your new home is going to turn out beautifully.
