It is no secret, I did not want a retaining wall but we chose to build a walk-out home. When I saw the men dig the foundation, I knew we would need a wall. I just didn't understand that it would need to be 8 feet tall! The kids think it's a play structure so at least two out of four of us love it, right? I plan to grow something lovely on the wall, to make it prettier. I'm thinking some form of espalier. We'll see.

I think the "play structure" looks fine. ;o) Once you get your landscaping and gardens set up, it will hardly be noticeable. Especially with such a pretty view of woods in the back. I think the idea of some sort of espalier would be so pretty. I've always wanted to try that! There are some at the arboretum here that I will have to take pictures of and send to you. They are against a white wall in an outdoor dining room, and they are gorgeous!
Everything is coming together so rapidly at your new house. I am anxious to watch you turn the bricks and floors and windows into a home!
